Relationships

Ikkaku Madarame - Coworker. Peer. Best friend. The only one he feels really understands him. They’re incredibly different, but they connect on a level that can’t be reached through conversation alone. He spends most of his time with the bald brute just trying to figure him out, which is entertaining in itself. The relationship isn’t progressing as quickly as he’d like it to, which leads to a great deal of frustration on his part.

Shuuhei Hisagi - Former lover. They were together for over three years. It ended... slowly. Part of him still clings to the idea of Shuuhei—he’ll never forget what they had. They said they’d remain friends, but things have never been the same. It takes a long time to heal a broken heart.

Izuru Kira - Friend. Lover. He’s not exactly sure how to classify their relationship, but he’s not too worried about it. They met two years ago, and have built up a pattern of comforting each other in times of need. It works. Very well, in fact. Why fix something that’s not broken?

Rangiku Matsumoto - Friend. She’s stuck by him for over seven years, something that he doesn’t take for granted. She’s always there when he needs to talk and, more importantly, she doesn’t push him when he doesn’t want to. There’s not much he wouldn’t do for her, and he trusts her enough to rely on her, as well.

Akon Mori - Friend by association. Although, that title is very generous. Yumi avoids Akon when at all possible and, when it’s not, doesn’t bother hiding his obvious dislike of the man. Why doesn’t he like Akon? Because it’s so much more fun than liking him. He’s got to get his kicks somewhere, after all.

Isshin Kurosaki - Role model. Maybe. Yumi never forgot the officer that showed up the morning after his parents died. The impression that Isshin made on him would eventually lead Yumichika to become a cop himself (although he wasn’t aware of the connection at the time, and probably never will be).

Kisuke Urahara - Acquaintance. Yumichika rather embarrassed himself by assuming that Kisuke—the owner of the Black Cat Lounge—was just an ordinary bartender. He’s made it a point to be incredibly nice to the man ever since. He frequents the BCL often, and gives Kisuke a smile and nod whenever he passes by.

Kenpachi Zaraki - Employer. Crazy man. He’s the type of person that Yumichika likes to sit back and observe quietly. It’s best not to get too close to Kenpachi—you just never know what he’ll do. Yumi rather likes face the way it is, thank you very much.

Sousuke Aizen - A name from the past. Yumichika will never forget Aizen’s name. And he’ll never forget when and where he heard it. Aizen was connected to the deaths of his parents. Perhaps not directly, but there was definitely something there. Yumichika is determined to find out.
